According to a note on the very last page of this article (if you are able to access and read it), Harold Robinson's middle name is actually "Edward":

  • Nesom, Guy L. & Pruski, John F. 2011. Harold Robinson—Recipient of the 2010 Asa Gray Award. Systematic Botany 36(1): 1–4. DOI: 10.1600/036364411x553063 JSTOR.

If you can't read it, here's the part I'm quoting for reference:

"Harold's middle name is Edward, but author citations of "H. E. Robinson" occasionally encountered in literature lists apparently reflect additions of the "E." by bibliographers, because the botanist himself prefers not to use the initial."

Everywhere else on the internet that I know of, including Wikispecies and Wikipedia, claims his middle name to be "Ernest". I've checked the English Wikipedia article in particular and it appears to have been present all the way back to its creation in 2005, though unsourced throughout the article's entire history. Can anyone explain this? Monster Iestyn (talk) 21:00, 14 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

On the other hand, it's also possible Nesom & Pruski got the middle name wrong, mind you. Checking Evenhuis's Author of Fly Names, Third Edition from this year, "Ernest" is given as the middle name. Monster Iestyn (talk) 01:52, 15 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
