It is commonly accepted that this genus is not monophyletic (Bräuchler et al, 2010 and Trusty et al, 2004). However, proposals to resurrect genera such as Acinos Mill., Gard. Dict. Abr. ed. 4 (1754) do not improve the situation. Therefore the taxon page remains as Clinopodium s.l. for the moment (Govaerts et al., 2015). Andyboorman (talk) 20:13, 28 August 2015 (UTC)
