All commonly cultivated citrus fruits, except Kumquat (Citrus japonica), are the result of complex artificial hybrids and an intimate associated with horticulture over many generations. The species list over is the best taxonomy of accepted "true" species and nothospecies that can be found in literature to date, although more references are always required.Andyboorman (talk) 19:49, 18 February 2021 (UTC) Modified 16/01/24[reply]

A range of common artificial nothospecies are also provided, but this is not exhaustive and could be added to as required.

Unplaced species: C. × obovata – C. × tamurana – C. longilimon – C. oblonga – C. pseudopapillaris – C. semperflorens
Most, if not all of these unplaced names added to WS over the years will turn out to be variants of artificial hybrids or cultivars, but have not been analysed. Andyboorman (talk) 16:45, 16 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
