"Arden"?[edit]

I suspect that "Arden" is not actually part of this author's name. In all his publications that I know of so far, he published as just "Charles Thomas", with no "A." initial, let alone a full middle name. Secondly, a "Thomas, Charles" appears in a list of members of the Botanical Society and Exchange Club of the British Isles in page 442 of [1]; "Arden" is given immediately after but is separated from the first name by a comma, suggesting to me that it is not part of his name but actually part of of his address. (Though in a later volume [2] he is given on page 143 as "Thomas, C.A." but I think this is possibly a mistake by the editor?) Lastly, the sculptor Charles E. Thomas (1883–1981) is given at sculpture.gla.ac.uk (currently only viewable from a cached version by Google: [3]), and not only lists the same address as the society (giving "Arden" as part of it) but also states that he also studied botany.

Unfortunately I don't know if there's any other biographical information available on Charles Thomas, so I'm not entirely sure if the author of the three Epipactis species names is the same person as the the BSEC member and the sculptor, but given the "Arden" name connection it seems possible to me they are.
