Rank of the combination by Kuntze

In his publication, Kuntze used Greek letters both for subspecies, e.g. in Lithospermum arvense, p. 215, and varieties, e.g. in Lappula echinata, p. 213f. So, it is not clear, which rank he intended for Lycopsis arvensis γ. orientalis - see also ICN, Art. 37.3. As in other cases he used "var." for variety instead of Greek letters, it is more likely that subspecies rank was intended, but we can not be absolutely sure. --Franz Xaver (talk) 10:11, 1 July 2016 (UTC)
