Allocetraria was recently placed in synonymy with Cetraria along with a number of other genera. DOI: 10.1007/s13225-017-0379-z @Lichenes: Is there a reason this shouldn't be followed? Voganaa (talk) 18:58, 26 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Wikispecies is not a news site. Divakar et al. (2017) was published in May, 2017, so it can't be said that it is still accepted sufficiently (e.g. Index Fungorum, MycoBank etc.). I think it is not desirable hurry edit, especially redirection of taxa. --Lichenes (talk) 02:44, 29 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Lichenes: It can take years for Index Fungorum and/or Mycobank to update sometimes. The recent consensus on the Village Pump was that as soon as a change is published in a peer reviewed source, WS should accommodate it. That being said, I personally don't agree with using time calibrations to merge what are otherwise monophyletic genera as Divakar et al. (2017) have done. As were not supposed to make personal judgements here, it would seem the proper thing to do is follow Divakar et al.. If you have additional insights that suggests the changes wont be observed by the Lichen community, I'm happy to leave well enough alone. Voganaa (talk) 08:06, 29 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
