Talk:Alexandre Wachanru

Something that's bugging me about this entomologist: some of the taxa published in articles by both Mulsant & Wachanru sometimes are not cited with Wachanru as the second taxon authority (e.g. Pachnephorus bistriatus and Galleruca costalis [= Diorhabda elongata]). Even in articles published in the last 20 years, this trend goes on with no explanation as to why this should be so, even when both Mulsant and Wachanru are acknowledged as the authors of the whole article (e.g. Tracey & Robbins, 2009).

Nothing in the original articles by the two authors that I know of suggests that Wachanru is not to be considered a taxon author. Nothing else available online that I can find seems to suggest this either, except by omission of the second author (once again, with no explanation). If there is anything at all to say there is a reason for not counting Wachanru as a taxon author, a note should be made here on Wikispecies for future reference.

On an unrelated note, I also have no idea when Alexandre Wachanru was born or died. Apparently, there is much more information available on his wife, Marie-Rose Wachanru née Gaudemard (1821–1853), who was considered an entomologist in her own right, has several taxa dedicated to her, but didn't author any taxa herself. There is an obituary for her written by Mulsant: https://biodiversitylibrary.org/page/3487441. Monster Iestyn (talk) 04:36, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
