The species circumscription needs careful checking. There is disagreement in spelling of some of the species between IPNI, Tropicos and the Plant List. Andyboorman (talk) 19:31, 27 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The generic name was first published by Gaertner in 1788, with the single species Alectryon excelsum indicating that he considered the name to be neuter. This gender was accepted until it was changed to masculine by the monographer Radlkofer (1890: 256) (not seen), therefore the gender is now masculine by tradition Art. 62.1 (St John & Frederick, 1949).Andyboorman (talk) 19:57, 6 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
