Note: A revised infrageneric classification of Sophora is still required, as there is considerable discrepancy in rank and species composition between the classification schemes of Yakovlev (1967) and Tsoong & Ma (1981), in addition numerous monotypic ranks are not very helpful (Heenan et al (2004)).
