  • Paratype: ZMH 26159.

Type locality: RV ‘Vityaz’, cruise 17, station 2820, Saya de Malha Bank, 08°34’S, 59°40.1’E – 08°24.7’S, 59°43.5’E, 960–1130 m depth.

Etymology: The species name brevicauda, from Latin brevis (= short), and cauda (= tail), refers to the very short tail of the species.
