Pterothamnion polyacanthum (Kützing) Nägeli, 1862

• Basionym
  • Callithamnion polyacanthum Kützing, 1849
    • Type locality: "Ad littora Britanniae" [probably Kilkee, Co. Clare, Ireland]. Type: not found at L, although there is evidence that it was examined by O. Sundene and P.S. Dixon; according to Sundene's note the missing type was collected at Kilkee, Ireland. Lectotype: Athanasiadis (1996: 59) selected Kützing’s illustration (1861, xi, pl. 83: fig. II), probably collected by W.H. Harvey.
