Name[edit]

Proapteryx micromeros Worthy, Worthy, Tennyson, Salisbury, Hand & Scofield, 2013: 67

Holotype: MONZ NMNZ S.53324 ('right femur missing distal condyles')

Type locality/age: 'In a clay layer enveloping stromatolites, Site FF1 (Lindqvist 1994), a fossil stromatolite bed at 44.90359°S, 169.85840°E, Manuherikia River, Otago, New Zealand. Fossil Record Number (FRN) in the archival Fossil Record File of the Geological Society of New Zealand is H41/f0058 (stromatolites) and H41/ f0059 (clay draping stromatolites)' / 'Bannockburn Formation, Manuherikia Group, Early Miocene (Altonian); 19–16 Ma; St Bathans Fauna. The stratigraphic relationship of site FF1 to other Bannockburn Formation exposures is presently unknown but the associated faunas are similar'
