Diagnosis: Thallus foliosus, sorediatus; subtus albus velpallido-brunnescens; conidia plus minusve cylindrica, 7-12 x <1 µm.
Type: MEXICO. Puebla: 10 km S of Coxcatlán. On a columnar cactus. Culberson 16,444 (DUKE-holotype).
Substrate and ecology (Sonoran region:) Usually on bark or cactus stems, less often on rock.
Etymology: Named to honor lichenologist William Louis Culberson.
