Name[edit]

  • Petrocephalus longianalis Kramer et. al., 2012

Holotype: SAIAB 76758. Paratypes: SAIAB 186060 (48).

Type locality: Zambia, Zambia Province, Luapula System, Luongo River, Lufubu River, Lufubu River Falls below bridge at Chipili on Mensa-Mununga road, 10°43'46.92"S, 29°05'36.96"E.[1]

Etymology: The specific name is a combination of the Latin longus (= long) and analis (= anal fin), refering to the relatively long anal fin (count of fin rays nA = 33 - it was highest and distinctive among the Petrocephalus species of the author's study).
