Holotype (unique): WAM P.29004-006.
Type locality: 10°28'S, 105°35'E, Indian Ocean, Christmas Island, Vincent Point, northern side, depth 15–22 meters.
Etymology: The species is named after its type location, the Christmas Island (see: The ETYFish Project.)
