Holotype: NIFI 4853. Paratypes: (11).

Type locality: Thailand, Kanchanaburi Province, Thong Pha Phum, Ban Rai, NW Huai Khayeng, close to SW side of reservoir, off road 327, 14°41'25"N, 98°31'16"E.

Etymology: From the Latin noun canicula, meaning little dog, in reference to the canine-like-molar shape of the dark dorsal saddles.
