  • Holotype: CSIRO H 7016-01.
  • Paratypes (8): CSIRO CA 3236, CA 3247, CA 4307, H 3914-01, H 6144-19, H 7017-01, H 7018-01, T 693.

Type locality: southwest of Weipa, Gulf of Carpentaria, Queensland, 12°53.96′ S, 141°12.71′ E, 36–38 m depth.

Etymology: Epithet demarcates the Australasian distribution of this member of bluespotted mask ray complex of the genus Neotrygon.
