  • Typus: Roxburgh s.n. (not seen by Ridsdale 1978: 340).
  • Type locality: [India.] Coromandel[Andhra Pradesh]: Moist valleys among the Circar mountains.

Notes[edit]

Wight & Arnott, Prodr. Fl. Ind. Orient. 1: 392 (1834) cited the pre-Linnaean mention 'Katou Tsjaca' by Rheede in Hortus Malabaricus 3: t. 33 (1682) as Nauclea purpurea Roxb., but it is less likely to be the case since descriptions on their flower colours, forms of stigma, and cross sections of fruits do not agree well (Ridsdale 1976: 185).
