Monotocheirodon kontos Menezes et al., 2013

  • Holotype: MUSM 41542.
  • Paratypes: MUSM 6756 (4), 11644 (2), 11250 (4); USNM 405297 (2).

Type locality: Río Inambari, Sandia, Muspaypampa, 14°14’41”S, 69°25’51”W [1].

Etymology: The specific name kontos is from the Greek meaning a long pole. The word is used here in reference to the prominent male inseminating organ.
