Type locality: Iça; Obidos; Lago do Maximo; Tajapuru, Amazon River, Brazil.

Etymology: in honor of philosopher-psychologist William James (1842-1910), a volunteer on the Thayer Expedition that collected type [brother of novelist Henry James]. (From The ETYFish Project)
