Melanotaenia rubrivittata Allen et al., 2015

  • Holotype: MZB 22261.
  • Paratypes: MZB 22262 (6); USNM 427072 (5); WAM P. 31449-001 (6), P.31454-001 (8).

Type locality: small pond beside Tirawiwa River, 3° 01.970’S, 136° 22.231’ E, Wapoga River system, Papua Province, Indonesia, 0.3 m depth.

Etymology: The species is named rubrivittata (Latin: red-stripes) with reference to the distinctive markings that distinguish it from the similar appearing M. praecox.
