Name

[edit]

Melamphaes inconspicuus Kotlyar, 2015

  • Holotype: ZMMU P.23453.
  • Paratypes: ZMMU P.23454 (3).

Type locality: R/V Akademik Sergei Vavilov, cruise one, May 20–21, 1988, station 46, 31°24′ N, 21°24′ W, station depth ~5000 m, trawling depth 175–196 m.

Etymology: It is emphasized by the species name (from the lat. inconspicuus (= imperceptible, inconspicuous) that it is related to M. longivelis and, probably, specimens caught earlier were attributed to M. longivelis by mistake.
