Type locality: China: Yunnan: Puer Prefecture: Jiangcheng County: hill stream close to Yiwanshui village, a tributary to Mengyejiang River, Black River, Red River basin; 22°35.759' N 101°45.488' E, 953 m asl.

Etymology: The specific epithet is borrowed from the Chinese mythology. Chang E is the lunar goddess and is said to be of incredible beauty, to which the epithet alludes.
