Name[edit]

Glaucostegus typus (Anonymous [Bennett], 1830)

  • Syntypes: BMNH 1852.8.30.17 (dry) Sumatra.

Type locality: Sumatra, Indonesia; India.

Etymology: allusion not evident; the author may have intended this species to represent type of genus (type is assumed to be Rhinobatos rhinobatos based on tautonymy but accurate type designation has never been researched). (From: The ETYFish project)
