Holotype: MNHN -IU-2013-8423, ♂, 11 May 1992.
Type locality: Wallis and Futuna. MUSORSTOM 7, Stn CP508, 14°19.5'S, 178°04.5'W, 245–440 m.
Etymology: From the Latin sentis, thorny, in reference to the numerous spines on the carapace dorsal surface.
