Holotype: MNHN -IU-2013-9707, ♂, 27 September 2006.
Type locality: Vanuatu. SANTO, Stn AT39, 15°22.4'S, 167°12.6'E, 57–81 m.
Etymology: From the Latin politus, smooth, in reference to the smooth carapace surface.
