Holotype: MNHN -IU-2013-13318, ♂, 18 September 1993.
Type locality: New Caledonia. Touho, 20°47'S, 165°13'E, 20 m.
Etymology: From the Latin furfur, bran, scurf, in reference with the small scales on the carapace.
