Type locality: Challenger station 226. Philippine Sea, west of the Mariana Islands. 14°44′00″N 142°13′00″E / 14.733333°N 142.216667°E / 14.733333; 142.216667. Depth 2300 fms.

Holotype: BMNH 1890.5.7.1080 [1].
