  • Paratypes: Many.

Type locality: Nananu-i-Ra, 17°16.704'S, 178°12.932'E, Viti Levu, Fiji, depth 3-6 meters.

Etymology: The specific epithet is an adjective combining the Greek kara (= head) and spilous (= spot), referring to the distinctive occipital spot.
