- Holotype: MNHNC 3798, adult ♂, collected by A. Veloso and K. Busse in November 2003.
- Type locality: “at the east edge of Reserve Nacional Los Queules, 71 km W Cauquenes, coastal mountain range of the Costa, VII Maule Region (35°59′S, 72°41′W) at 450 m elevation, Chile”.
- Synonymised with Eupsophus septentrionalis Ibarra-Vidal, Ortíz & Torres-Pérez, 2004, by Blotto, Nuñez, Basso, Úbeda, Wheeler & Faivovich (2013: 117).
