Name[edit]

Eptesicus innoxius (Gervais, 1841)

  • Holotype: MNHN-ZM-AC-A6987, ♂, collected by L.F.A. Souleyet & F. Eydoux in 1838.
  • Type locality: “Omatopé, au Pérou” [=Amotape, Piura, Peru].

Synonyms[edit]

  • Vespertilio espadae Cabrera, 1901: 368 [synonymized by Cabrera (1958: 107)]
    • Holotype: MNCN 568, adult ♂, body in alcohol with skull extracted, collected by Jiménez de la Espada on November 1864.
    • Type locality: “Babahoyo”, Los Ríos, Ecuador.
  • Eptesicus punicus Thomas, 1920: 364 [synonymized by Cabrera (1958: 107)]
    • Holotype: BMNH 99.8.1.1, adult ♂, skin and skull, collected by Perry O. Simons on 1 November 1899.
    • Type locality: “Puna [Island]. Alt. 10 m.”, Guayas, Ecuador.

Native distribution areas[edit]

  • W Ecuador, including Puna Island (Loja, El Oro, Guayas, Los Ríos, Cotopaxi, Bolívar, Santo Domingo and Esmeraldas provinces)
  • NW Peru (Tumbes, Piura and Lambayeque provinces)
