Type species: Eoplesiosaurus antiquior Benson, Evans & Druckenmiller, 2012
Etymology: Genus name from Eo, Greek meaning ‘dawn’, and Plesiosaurus, referring to a proportionally long neck, which is also present in Plesiosaurus.
