Labeobarbus microterolepis (Boulenger, 1902)

Status: hybrids of Labeobarbus ethiopicus x Labeobarbus intermedius

  • Holotype (unique): BMNH 1902.12.13.220.

Type locality: Maki River at Buggali, flowing towards Lake Swai from eastern slope of Adami Mts., Addia country, Ethiopia, elevation about 4000 feet.

Etymology: micro- (= small); tero (= perhaps ptero, fin); lepis (= scale), referring to having smallest scales in B. bynni species group, and possibly referring to small pectoral fins as well, although Boulenger does not explicitly mention this feature. (From The ETYFish project)
