Eigenmannia desantanai Peixoto et al., 2015

  • Holotype: MPEG 31306.
  • Paratypes: NUP 12500 (9), 3470 (9 + 1C&S); MPEG 31164 (1 + 1C&S).

Type locality: Brazil. Mato Grosso: Rio Cuiabá, Baía de Chacororé, Rio Paraguai basin, Município de Barão de Melgaço, 16°14′58.9″ S, 55°52′44.4″ W.

Etymology: The epithet desantanai is in honour of Carlos David de Santana, in recognition of his contributions to our knowledge of the Gymnotiformes.
