Holotype: UCR 21245, nearly complete but badly shattered skull, periotics, tympanic bullae, isolated teeth, parts of both mandibles, several vertebrae, ribs, parts of the pectoral girdle and forelimbs, all from one individual.
Type locality and horizon: UCR locality RV-6505, (Field locality 11), in Unit 6 approximately 15 feet above the base of the Almejas Formation, latest Miocene, Baja California, Mexico.
