- Holotype: PMNH 1965, adult ♂, collected by Khalid Javed Baig on 6 July 2007.
- Type locality: “rocky foothills of the Khanbari Valley, Diamer Basha Dam Reservoir, Chilas, Astor District, Northern Areas, Karakoram Range, Pakistan (35°33'57″N, 73°50'29″E), at an elevation of 1181m”.
- Etymology: The species epithet is a patronym honoring the late Dr. Khalid Javed Baig (1956-2006) for his contributions to the knowledge of the herpetofauna of Pakistan.
