Type locality: BRAZIL. Bahia: Município Andaraí, Pai Inácio, N estrada entre Andaraí e Lençóis, 12º30′S, 41º30′W.
Type: M.L. Guedes 5857 (in flower, 18 February 1997; Holotype: HUEFS [HUEFS000087911 (63180)^{(GBIF, REFLORA)}]; Isotypes: ALCB [ALCB000070 (037462)^{(GBIF, REFLORA)}], CEPEC, IBGE, MO, NY, PEUFR, USP).
