- Paratypes: MZUSP 116105 (11, 1 C&S); MNRJ 42909 (3); INPA 46986 (3); UFRO 23255 (2).
Type locality: Brazil, Rondônia, Guajará-Mirim, upper rio Pacaás Novos, tributary of rio Mamoré, rio Madeira basin, 10°50'46.29"S 63°37'47.29"W.
Etymology: From the Latin summus, which means high, elevated, alluding to the high altitude where the species occurs, near Pico Tracoá, higher than 1100 m above sea level in the Serra dos Pacaás Novos.
