Name[edit]

Channa melasoma (Bleeker, 1851)

Type locality: Indonesia (Sambas River, Borneo)

Etymology: melasoma: from the Ancient Greek μέλας (melas), meaning ‘black’, and σῶμα (soma) meaning ‘body’, in reference to this species’ colour pattern.
