Type locality: Iran, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer Ahmad prov., Beshar (Bashar) River at Tale Gah village, Karun River drainage, 30°47'27"N, 51°25'13"E.

Etymology: named after Brian W. Coad, a well-known ichthyologist for his valuable contribution to the knowledge of freshwater fishes of Iran.
