Note: Linnaeus assigned neuter gender, whereas classical usage indicated masculine, but Magee et al. (2008): 617 discussed the gender of this genus and followed Linnaeus, as here.
Note: EMD prefer to maintain a segregation from Athamanta L., Sp. Pl. 1: 245 (1753) for B. albanicum and B. arachnoideum, but this is not universally accepted.
