Holotype: CAS temporary preparations MGM-00017, MGM-00018, MGM-00019, female, 27.XI.1950, Ross & Michelbacher.
Type locality: Chile, Región V de Valparaíso, Petorca province, Zapallar.
Etymology: The specific name is taken from the word spine in the language of the Mapuche, indigenous inhabitants of southern Chile and Argentina, and referring to the distinctive spine pattern of the new species.
