  • Holotype (unique): BMNH 1904.5.2.182.

Type locality: Junction of Cambo and Kwango [or Cuango] rivers at Fort Don Carlos [1], Loanda District, Angola.

Etymology: The specific name macrocephalus is a combination of the Greek makros (= long), and kephale (= head). It refers to the long head of the species.
