Distribution[edit]

Lives in the Mediterranean Sea, Southwest Spain and Portugal, Azores, Madeira, Canary Islands, Northwest Africa, Morocco, Mauritania, Western Sahara, Cabo Verde, Eastern South America, Brazil, including part of the Southern Hemisphere to Paraná.

Synonyms[edit]

Arbacia aequituberculata and Arbacia africana are most probably synonyms of Arbacia lixula.
