  • Type locality: MALAYSIA: Genting Highlands, (3° 25’ 26.32” N; 101° 47’ 35.52”, 1218 m in elevation).
  • Holotype: La Sierra University Herpetological Collection (LSUHC), La Sierra University, Riverside, California, USA, 12124; Adult female collected on 16 March 2015.
  • Etymology: The specific epithet is a noun in apposition in reference to ‘‘Sméagol’’, a fictional character created by J. R. R. Tolkien in The Hobbit (1937).
