Type locality: "East side of the Pankerusano-sawa Creek, approximately 5 km east of Hobetsu and 2 km west of Tomiuchi, Hokkaido, northern Japan".
Holotype: HMG-1528
Etymology: (Ainu) ponpet = creek; also the origin of the toponym Hobetsu [Konishi et al., 2016: 812]
