Name

[Bewerke]

Vitis vinifera L., Sp. Pl. 1: 202 (1753)
Note: Govaerts et al. and EMD (2024) reject the two subspecies circumscription for this species, as Vitis vinifera subsp. vinifera represents just the cultivated forms, whereas Vitis vinifera subsp. sylvestris are those found in the wild. Haasler (2024) prefers to accept Vitis gmelinii Buttler, Ber. Bot. Arbeitsgem. Südwestdeutschl. 8: 34. (2017) instead of Vitis vinifera subsp. sylvestris (Willd.) Hegi, Ill. Fl. Mitt.-Eur. 5(1): 364. (1925).
