I am a British professor of herpetology with a specialist interest in the snakes of Melanesia and Wallacea. I may have been involved in herpetology for over half a century, but I'm pretty new to Wikispecies, so if I make mistakes please explain where I have gone wrong. I have edited on Wikipedia for much longer, mostly herpetology and the history of biological exploration.
