Citation of validation lists[edit]

Citation of validation lists is certainly not logical, nor specified in the code.

Here is how I do it on nzfungi (mostly because I want to avoid separate references for each name): Anon. 2014: [Validation List no. 155] List of new names and new combinations previously effectively, but not validly, published. International Journal of Systematic and Evolutionary Microbiology 64(1): 1-5.

And here is how it is done on the LPSN: VALIDATION LIST no. 143. Int. J. Syst. Evol. Microbiol., 2012, 62, 1-4. [STALEY (J.T.) and WHITMAN (W.B.): Class I. Fusobacteriia class. nov. In N.R. KRIEG, J.T. STALEY, D.R. BROWN, B.P. HEDLUND, B.J. PASTER, N.L. WARD, W. LUDWIG and W.B. WHITMAN (editors), Bergey’s Manual of Systematic Bacteriology, second edition, vol. 4 (The Bacteroidetes, Spirochaetes, Tenericutes (Mollicutes), Acidobacteria, Fibrobacteres, Fusobacteria, Dictyoglomi, Gemmatimonadetes, Lentisphaerae, Verrucomicrobia, Chlamydiae, and Planctomycetes), Springer, New York, 2011, p. 747.]

I prefer the former way because that is citing the list, rather than a pseudo publication, I would rather just have two citations including the original if necessary. --Onco p53 (talk) 22:59, 18 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Yep, I'll do it your way! Thanks, Stho002 (talk) 22:43, 18 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
