Head and Body Length: 81 cm.
Wingspan: 2 meters.
Weight: 1.8–2.8 kg.
Range: Atlantic ocean.
Habitat: Ocean waters; breeds on Gough Island and islands in Tristan da Cunha archipelago.
Remaining number: Estimated at 21,000–35,000 breeding pairs.
First described: By the German Naturalist Johann Friedrich Gmelin in 1789, who originally named it Diomedea chlororhynchos.

Thalassarche chlororhynchos is an expert flyer and also a competent diver for fish. This albatross makes landfall only for the breeding season in late August. Pairs are monogamous and build their nests of mud and vegetation, where the female lays a single egg. Fishing vessels with their longline fishing hooks and nets are posing a threat to this bird's survival.
